President: E.M.R. PAINTBALL PARK

Part Owner: GUNSLINGERS PAINTBALL
Michael “BLUE” Hanse has been playing paintball since 1983 at which time he purchased four NSG Splatmaster paint markers and talked some friends into playing in the woods beside his house. This was a defining moment in his life and from then on he has focused his attentions on Paintball and helping it to flourish. After his first experience playing, he started recruiting and organizing players while adding more markers to his inventory. He started a team and began to attend small tournaments within the PA, MD, and WV area while continually organizing groups of players and trying to coordinate both outlaw groups and teams to play together at specified meeting places.
In 1987, BLUE decided to take his business expertise from his Office Products Company and make his small playing field into a true business by opening “HANSE HOLLOW” and then contacted other fields and stores and arranged better priced purchases as a group. He also organized paintball trips to both his and other fields throughout his area, constantly working to bring all the players together and push safety and organization before, during, and after play. In 1992, BLUE left his office Products Business and moved his family to New Milford, PA to go into a partnership to open ADVENTUREWORLD, located on the site of the former WOLF’S LAIR. He attended the International Amateur Open that year and started to expand his involvement within the industry and doing consulting work with other fields, stores, and manufacturers.
In the beginning of 1994, BLUE dissolved his partnership and bought into MONTNEEL DESIGN, manufacturers of the Z-1 and MEGA-Z paintball markers. He took over all the sales and marketing for MONTNEEL for the next two years and traveled extensively to tournaments such as the World Cup, Nashville Masters, Knoxville Indoor, Wasaga Beach 10-man, and Blizzard Ball. Not only did he play on many different tournament teams, he also realized that the Rec. Ball/Big Game player population was virtually being ignored by the paintball industry, yet made up approximately 95% of the player base. He started attending large games such as MICHIGAN MONSTER game at Hell Survivors, Coram long Island’s Big game, WEST POINT MILITARY ACADEMY’s big games, All Star Paintball’s Big game, Wayne Dollack’s GRAND FINALE, and any other big games he could find to promote MONTNEEL and also help the producers with their games. He also always played these games and built up relationships with many of the teams and players by doing so.
During this time he built up an extensive loyal dealer network of fields and stores, helping many of them to open and/or improve their businesses with free business consultation. BLUE also started speaking at Industry Conferences on Marketing and Running big events in Paintball, as well as running small clinics at fields on good business practices and safe reffing procedures.
During the Spring of 1996, BLUE and his wife Sue reclaimed the old WOLF’S LAIR facility and opened it up as E.M.R. PAINTBALL PARK. His focus from then on was to produce the best operated, safest, most enjoyable, big games and scenario games in the country. BLUE originated the idea of a large attack and defend game with the CASTLE CONQUEST and also a completely different style of game with his wacky QUEST for the Holy Grail. He also became the East Coast Distributor for PAINTBALL MANIA SUPPLIES and PRO-TEAM PRODUCTS and continued to build his dealer network while working more in the Industry to promote paintball and help it to grow. In 1999, BLUE switched from PMS to become the East Coast Distributor for DIABLO PAINTBALLS and continued to travel extensively to events throughout the country, both tournaments and Big Games/Scenario Games to promote DIABLO, EMR, and paintball as a whole. In 2002, SEVERE PAINTBALLS brought BLUE on board as one of their spokesmen and threw their total support behind him, EMR, and eventually BLUE’S CREW.
BLUE has been featured in at least 8 different Paintball Publications, been on the cover of four magazines with two more covers coming up within the next few months. He also has written and had his articles and photos published in 8 different Paintball Publications and continues to write an occasional story for different magazines. His field E.M.R. PAINTBALL PARK has gained international acclaim and is also featured in numerous publications monthly, as is his team BLUE’S CREW. BLUE’S CREW has quickly claimed their spot in paintball and is one of the best publicized and well known teams in paintball. BLUE runs his 31 member BLUE’S CREW as a marketing team following his strict guidelines on honorable, aggressive play on the field and being emissaries for the sport, EMR, and his sponsors at all times. GUNSLINGERS has overnight become known for great gun teching and player support throughout the northeast at tournaments and Big Games/Scenario Games.
Throughout all of the 22 years BLUE has been involved in paintball, he has always been an avid player and continued to help new fields, stores, teams, and paintball companies to grow, anything to help the sport that he fell in love with in 1983. He is a common fixture at paintball events throughout the eastern United States and Canada (having attended events at over 70 different fields throughout the years) and works closely with many companies such as SEVERE PAINTBALLS, MAGNUM BOOTS, NXE, ALCHEMY BANNERS, etc. to design, expand, and improve paintball and their products. A few of the teams that he has had the privilege of playing on are MIKE’S MANIACS, BLUE’S CRUSADERS, STINGERS, LEADER FACTORY TEAM, BRASS EAGLE FACTORY TEAM, JABBA’S GENTLEMEN, WASAGA BEACH DREAM TEAM, MONTNEEL’S Z-TEAM, ICEMEN, BONEHEADS, MAYBERRY MARAUDERS, DAMAGE INC., WILLIAM SHATNER’S MAGNIFICENT 7, and the industry team FLYING PIGS.
