JR Chantry JR Chantry was an employee at Johnson & Johnson in 1997 when he saw a posting to play paintball for the day. He was hooked immediately and started playing every available weekend he could, much to the chagrin of his wife. He had the break of his life when an ad for EMR Paintball Park caught his eye. EMR was hosting a game based on Monty Python’s movie, Quest for the Holy Grail. Knowing his wife, Amy, was a fan, he convinced her to travel with him and try the game. Once there, she was hooked also! This opened up a whole new world for JR and his wife. They started traveling to other big games in different states. In 1998, he Co-Founded Team Demaskus with Amy and fellow teammate Scott Matlock. The name Demaskus was JR’s idea completely, something he had been carrying around in his head since High School. Although, it was supposed to be a band name, a paintball team suited JR just fine. JR is by far the most aggressive member of Team Demaskus. Always in front, always advancing, JR is the player that crosses over into the enemies’ territory first and yells for you to follow. In the early days of playing, Amy said if she lost sight of JR, she could identify his position by 2 things. The sound of his Benjamin Sheridan pump, and his voice, yelling MOVE UP! He has since upgraded to a Sovereign 2, but still has an affinity for pump play. Lets face it, he just likes to play! Happiest on the field, he would rather go out and do his own thing than play a role in a scenario game. An example of this is EMR’s now annual game, Quest for the Holy Grail. It was there, in that first game that he experienced the thrill of chasing down and grenading the Killer White Rabbit. Now, it is a yearly tradition for him. The opportunity to play with Blue’s Crew in 2003 was exactly what he was looking for. It’s the kind of no-hold barred, in your face paintball that he enjoys. He hopes to see you out on the field this year; he will be looking for you!
