Bob "Action Bob" Lanstrum
Bob Young started playing paintball in June of 92 when he heard a
co-worker's husband was opening a paintball field called Poco Loco. Bob
was hooked immediately and was looking into buying his own equipment
before the next game. It didn't take long to realize that to the really
good players this wasn't Rambo or cops and robbers , but a game more
like chess with lots of strategy. Bob spent a lot of time on the field
learning how to find the best angle, luring the opponent into an ambush,
working the advantages and disadvantaged of the fields , plus reading
his opponent and the benefits of teamwork. Besides playing he also
reffed for a few years, watching the mistakes and good moves of other
players , which added to his knowledge of the game. His time off the
field was spent reading magazines, scanning for internet articles and
newsgroups about paintball. Bob likes to push the other team and many
times can be found out in front, usually too far out in front for his
own good. His personal paintball motto has always been "if I can take a
group of them off with me it was worth it ". In 2001 a friend he had
introduced to the sport a few years earlier invited him to come to EMR
and play with his team at the Fall Castle. The team was the PA Brew
Crew, they had the right mix of on the field aggressiveness and off the
field fun , making Bob feel right at home. In 2002 Matt Itterly, the
Capt of the Brew Crew, told Bob of a team that he was joining called
Blue's Crew. They were a team based on the principal of just being
paintball warriors, no mission, no roles, just in your face paintball
mayhem. Bob joined Blue's Crew as an ASSociate member and has been
having a blast being a part of a team that plays hard on and off the
field. He hopes to see you out on the field this year(in his sights).
